How Much Does It Cost To Fly By Private Jet?

Private Jet Card Comparisons compares charter pricing on key private jet routes.

How much does it cost to fly by private jet? While there are a variety of issues one should consider – aircraft and pilot sourcing standards, extra charges and fees, cancellation policies, is the lavatory enclosed, will you have WiFi, and so forth – the price is needless to say part of the decision process. To give you some benchmarks, Private Jet Card Comparisons took a look at several popular vacation routes during key holidays. We looked for the lowest price for aircraft that didn’t need a refueling stop. Pricing is based on round trip flights. We specified six passengers traveling on the flights.

Our analysis covers July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and New Year’s leaving on the last working day before the holiday and returning on the first working day after the holiday, except for Thanksgiving where we priced a Sunday return. We used noon as our preferred departure times both for the departure and return flights.

Where you see an asterisk next to the aircraft type, it means that owner approval is required. Owner approval generally indicates that the aircraft is owned by an individual or company that closely controls its availability for the charter market. It also means that the broker has to get the approval from the owner to confirm the quote. Aircraft requiring owner approval can also mean that the owner retains the right to pull the plane back, for example, if the owner decides at a later date to use the plane. You then need to depend on the broker to find a replacement aircraft at similar terms.

Keep in mind pricing in the on-demand charter market is like going to the bazaar. During the two hours we spent researching our private jet trip pricing grid below several prices changed between our first query and when we went back to confirm them.

The below is roundtrip pricing, including FET (Federal Excise Tax) for New York – Miami, New York – Las Vegas, Los Angeles – Las Vegas and Chicago – Aspen. All aircraft are jets except the Pilatus PC-12, a single-engine turboprop.

When comparing private jet card pricing versus on-demand charter, you need to take into account the features and benefits of each jet card product against the bottom line quotes you get when searching the on-demand charter market.
