U.S. Private Aviation Flights Up 6.5% In May

Private aviation flights jumped 6.5% in May 2017 compared to last year, according to TRAQPak data. Part 135 flight activity was up 13.3%, Fractional flying was up 6.9% and Part 91 activity increased 2.1%. Large and Mid-size jets posting the largest gains, up 9.3% and 9.2% respectively. Light jets and turboprops saw increases of 3.8% and 5.3% respectively.

Month over month flying versus May grew 4.7%. Results by operational category were all positive, with Part 91 posting the largest increase, up 5.6%. Part 135 and Fractional activity each posted a 3.8% month over month rise. Aircraft categories all gained with turboprops posting the largest monthly gain, up 9.4% from April. Light jets followed with a rise of 3.1%, large jets rose 2.4% and mid-size jets recorded a gain of 2.3%. The largest individual increase occurred in the Fractional turboprop category, up 11.8%.
