Online Jet Charter Broker Stratajet Closes U.S. Office; Says It's “Business As Usual”

By Doug Gollan, June 19, 2017

Online private jet charter broker Stratajet which launched in the U.S. last year confirmed internet reports on Flyertalk that it has closed its U.S. office, but a spokesperson told Private Jet Card Comparisons, “It’s very much business as usual at Stratajet.  The US remains a focus of our business and we continue to provide a full, nationwide service.”

The U.K. based broker claimed it was revolutionizing the on-demand charter market with its online search engine which can calculate dozens of vagaries in pricing within about 60 seconds providing what it says are the most accurate quotes in the market. Stratajet, when it launched, bumped heads with Stellar, which also claimed real time pricing.

The Stratajet search engine results note which aircraft require owner approval and enables users to search from starting to ending addresses instead of just from and to airports. It also enables users to sort by age of aircraft and a variety of other preferences. Stratajet does not offer any jet membership or jet card programs.

The spokesperson said, “Our U.S. office was originally open in order to set up operations there, and as a base for (founder/CEO) Jonny (Nicol). Once this was complete, we realized that day to day U.S. and global operations could be handled from our European headquarters in London. As a technology-led business, our business model does not require offices in every time zone to provide 24/7 service.”

Asked how Stratjet’s business is making out, he added, “We are very happy with the progress we have made in the U.S. market since the November 2016 launch. Very recently, we have completed a new multi-million dollar funding round which will be used to further strengthen our global market position.”

The web report also noted a senior executive had left. The spokesman said, “I can also confirm that Stratajet is currently going through a management restructure, and I will let you know ASAP when this is confirmed.” He later said it is expected in July and that Nicol will remain with the company.
