NetJets, Wheels Up, Flexjet Top Solar Eclipse Flight Activity

Private jet activity spiked by 28% during the solar eclipse

Monday’s full solar eclipse was accompanied by a 28% spike in private aviation flight activity, according to TRAQPak, a service that tracks flying by private aircraft. According to a press release, there were 10,606 private aviation flights on August 21, 2017, compared to an average of 8,276 flights on previous Mondays during the year.

The operator with the most flight activity was NetJets followed by Wheels Up, Flexjet, Executive Jet Management and PlaneSense. The top aircraft type active on Monday was the Pilatus PC12, followed by Beechcraft BE20, Cessna C56X, Beechcraft B350 and Hawker 25B. Nashville, Tennessee had the most private jet arrivals, followed by Caspar, Wyoming, Charleston, South Carolina, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Columbia, South Carolina. Flight activity in Caspar saw the biggest jump, up 555% compared to a normal Monday.
