Like many business owners and executives, it’s not the meetings that grind you down, it’s getting from one remote site to another. It’s one reason professional golfers often choose private jet travel between tournaments. For Formula One drivers it means traversing from places like Baku, Azerbaijan to Monza, Italy, Austin, Texas and Spielberg, Austria. In other words, many places more easily reached by private aviation. With that in mind, it probably is no surprise that NetJets is now a partner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Formula One team.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport is the reigning champion and with an ever-expanding race calendar, the team made it a priority to relieve the travel burden placed on their race drivers and team members. NetJets says it was able to provide the team with a practical solution for managing their logistical challenges while at the same time optimizing travel times and improving efficiency.

“Over the past season, we have been working to optimize every area of our team operations and that includes how we best manage the challenges of race travel. I am delighted that we have been able to transform this work into a partnership with a market leader like NetJets,” said Toto Wolff, Head of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport in written statement.

To kick off the new partnership, Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes’ race-winning Finnish driver, took his first NetJets flight from Nice to Budapest on an Embraer Phenom 300 to catch the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“We’ve always had a keen interest in Formula One racing, and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport is the pinnacle of that. NetJets gives the drivers and team engineers a competitive edge by giving them faster access to tracks like Baku and Spa, at a fraction of the cost of whole aircraft ownership. That’s a big plus in an industry where speed and efficiency matter,” noted Patrick Gallagher, executive vice president of NetJets.

NetJets has been closely associated with professional golf, but at the PGA level and sponsorship of several dozen top golfers. Recently it announced a new partnership with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts offering custom travel experiences to its owners and members. Earlier this year NetJets launched its first jet card, not under the Marquis Jet brand.
