The Miami-based on-demand charter broker has added a jet card to its product mix

Unity Jets, which was founded by former NetJets’s vice president of sales Kevin Diemar, is adding jet cards to its mainstay of on-demand charter. The company was founded in 2011 and Diemar says the new jet card program is more an extension of its current business than a new direction.

The program features dynamic pricing and offers six categories: Prop, Light, Mid, Super Mid, Heavy and Large Airliners. Flight attendants are guaranteed on Heavy and Airliner size jets. The requirement to join is a $25,000 deposit and unused portion is refundable at any time. There is also an escrow option.

In terms of sourcing, Unity Jets is a broker, so doesn’t own aircraft, but instead sources aircraft and operators that have been pre-screened and qualified through Unity Jets safety and service screening process. All operators in the Unity Jets network are FAA or JAR compliant and meet its operator safety standards. Diemar says, “As well as ensuring all aircraft meet Part 135 requirements, we further conduct our own due diligence before inviting operators to join our network.” Unity is a Wyvern certified broker.

Unity provides 24/7/365 support. Perks of the program including a $150 catering credit for each trip, a nice touch which enables customers to specify what they want to be included.  There is also a $250 credit against any charges operators may have for taking pets. All pets as with on-demand charter require approval with the operator. The minimum age for unaccompanied minors is 16 years old, but the company can secure exceptions.

“We eliminated all the red tape and confusion, and created an innovative trip-by-trip solution with no fuel surcharges, no peak day rules or restriction,” Diemar says. While the program may be closer in structure to block charter and on-demand charter than the traditional jet card guaranteed availability and fixed one-way pricing, it represents the dramatic growth in the category, which has meant all sorts of innovations, including using dynamic pricing.

Diemar says Unity’s strength is its background in on-demand charter, which he says means that the company has to satisfy customers for every trip or they don’t come back. He estimates 80% of Unity’s business comes from referrals. Paid subscribers can compare Unity Jets’ jet card programs to more than 250 other programs across over 65 variables here.
