The Florida-based jet card broker wants to expand its customer base in the Northeast

Airstream Jets, which has set itself apart with jet cards that calculate rates based on mileage flown instead of hours, has opened an office to service private jet fliers in the New York area. The office is in Signature Flight Support’s new South Terminal at Teterboro Airport.

Peter Maestrales, Airstream’s founder and CEO said the expansion was necessary to accommodate the increasing demand for its Distance Card, which is sold in blocks of $25,000 or $100,000. He said, the company’s customer base is growing rapidly and revenues for 2019 are on pace to triple compared to last year.

The new office will be led by industry veteran Debbie Higgins in her new role as president of operations at Airstream Jets with plans to add additional staff in 2019 and 2020. Higgins started her business aviation career in 1988. This includes managerial experience with flight departments in the South Florida and New York areas. She is also the founder of Aero Education Academy (AEA), which she started in 2017 as a result of her passion to train and mentor future business aviation professionals. AEA offers students entry-level training and mentoring for a career in private aviation.

“In selecting our new office location, we felt it was important for us to have a presence in the heart of the world’s leading financial center,” Higgins said. “We’re very excited to open our new office at Teterboro Airport to better service our New York clients, more easily interact with partners and attract the best and brightest talent.”

Airstream’s Distance Card offers rates across five cabin classes, including very light jets, light jets, midsize cabin, super midsize, and large cabin. The program includes guaranteed availability, deicing, and several discounts, including for advance booking, flexibility to move your trip by a day, as well as flights to and from popular airports it designates as hubs. The company is based in Boca Raton, Florida.
