Cirrus Vision Jet SF50 G-2 Facts
Flying magazine writes, “What should an aircraft manufacturer do with a talented engineering team that just wrapped up the successful certification test program for a jet that would go on to win the Collier Trophy and Flying Innovation Award in the same year? One option would be to put them straight back to work developing the next iteration of the airplane. That’s just what Cirrus Aircraft chose to do in early 2017 while the ink was still fresh on the SF50 Vision Jet’s FAA approval documents. The result is a second-generation product featuring a multitude of technology advances, creature-comfort enhancements and performance improvements that elevate the industry’s first single-engine personal jet to a whole new level of goodness.”
Business Jet Traveler notes, “Range is about 100 nautical miles higher at long-range cruise of 240 ktas, giving a range of more than 1,200 nautical miles, or G2 pilots can carry more payload when flying at the more typical maximum continuous thrust power setting. On an 800-nautical-mile mission, an additional 150 pounds of payload is possible, and for a 1,000-nautical-mile mission, another 170 pounds of payload can be carried.”
The single engine personal jet is now making its move into commercial service. Florida-based VeriJet has six with plans to have over 130. It expects to expand its service area from Florida and the Southeast to California and Canada later this year. Europe is planned for 2022.
