Scottdale Wants More Private Jets

By Doug Gollan, April 4, 2017

Scottsdale is investing $27 million in upgrading facilities at Scottsdale Municipal Airport where an average of 385 private jets arrive and depart on a daily basis. In 2015 the airport generated $536 million in economic benefits for the community and the average spend of visitors is $5,255, more than 10 times higher than other visitors.

Improvements will be a new terminal building and more hangar space, plus increased meeting space making it easier to hold business meetings at the airport. There will also be expanded restaurant facilities and event space. During the construction, no disruptions to flight operations are expected. Visitors passing through the airport contribute about $120,000 per day to the Scottsdale economy, according to various studies. The Valley of the Sun features numerous 5-star resorts and is a popular luxury travel and business destination for users of private jet cards.
