December 22nd is projected to be the busiest day for private jet travel during the holidays with over 9,000 flights.
Palm Beach International Airport is expected to be the busiest destination for the private jet set this upcoming holiday season with an average of more than 130 business aviation arrivals per day during the period while Dec. 22 is expected to be the busiest day with 9,072 flights. That’s according to ARGUS TRAQPak which released its projections for the busiest destinations and days for business aircraft travel during the holiday season. The data includes all Part 135 flights in U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii, plus the Caribbean and Canada, excluding cargo, scheduled Part 135 and fractional operators. There are approximately 7,500 aircraft in the Part 135 fleet. There are about 28,000 commercial flights in the U.S on a given day.
The busiest day is expected to be Dec. 22 with 9,072 flights followed by the 26th at 8,924 flights, Jan. 2nd at 8,702 flights, the 27th at 8,477 flights and Jan 3 at 8,215 flights. Other days expected to have over 7,000 flights private jet flights are Dec. 23, 28 and 29. On Christmas Day ARGUS projects just 2,755 flights while New Year’s Day will see more people on the move with 5,952 flights.
Palm Beach is expected to be the most popular destination during the holidays with 1,705 private jet arrivals, followed by Teterboro at 1,668 flights, Westchester County at 1,140, Van Nuys at 1,071, Las Vegas (1,056), Naples (1,009), Vail Eagle (918), Dallas Love (912), Denver Centennial (894), Houston Hobby (853), Aspen (844), Salt Lake City (805), Scottsdale (742), Miami Opa Locka (710), Ft. Lauderdale Executive (691), Orange County (643), Ft. Lauderdale (636), Atlanta Dekalb Peachtree (561), Washington Dulles (536), Nassau, Bahamas (529).
