California, Texas and Florida had the most private jet departures in 2018

While 2018 business aircraft flight activity increased just 0.9% after 4.8% and 8.1% growth in 2017 and 2016, New Mexico recorded the largest year over year growth, up 16.4%. New Hampshire, one of 21 states to report a year over year decline, posted the largest yearly decline, down 4.3%, according to ARGUS TRAQPak. California was the state with the most departures while Vermont had the least.

California had 280,850 business aviation departures in 2018

Of the over three million business aviation flights in 2018 California had the most departures with 280,850. Texas followed with 278,890 departures, Florida (267,731), New Jersey (104,464), Georgia (96,339), New York (92,427), Colorado (91,714), Illinois) 80,297), North Carolina (79,825) and Ohio (71,069) to round out the 10 states with the most private jet activity.

Vermont had the fewest business aviation departures in 2018

Vermont had the fewest private aviation departures 4,550 followed by Rhode Island (5,927 departures), Delaware (5,936), West Virginia (10,375) and New Hampshire (11,670). Of the non-contiguous states, Alaska ranked 31st while Hawaii finished 45th.  Seven of the eight states with the least private flights were in the Northeast and Eastern regions

Regionally, the Southern area had the most departures (694,339) followed by the Western Pacific (405,294), Great Lakes (388,003), Southwest (373,817), Eastern (368,828), Northwest (291,796), Central (144,547) and Northeast (110,504).
