Is private jet fight activity seeing a second surge? WingX data suggests demand remains stronger than one may believe.
Global private jet flight activity in Week 28 of 2023 surged 17% from the previous week to 72,183 segments, according to the latest WingX data.
That’s just 2% below 2022’s record levels for Week 28.
Over the trailing four weeks, private jet flights worldwide were just 3% off of last year’s torrid pace.
Richard Koe, Managing Direyear’sf WingX, says, “There is some solidity in market trends as we hit the summer peak, with Euroyear’s up on pre-Covid summer 2019, though 10% down on la”t year; North America more robust, at just 4% below last year’s peak, up 16% up on July 2019. Business jet traffic in the Middle East is a little off last year’s records but still 38% ahead of demand four years ago.”
With a 29% boost for the week ending July 16, 2023, there were 47,812 segments in the U.S., flat to last year.
Europe recorded 15,680 flights for the week, 10% under 2022.

Worldwide, the charter and fractional market saw 38,835 flights for the week, 1% ahead of 2022.
With 151,263 flights over the past month, that’s just 3% under last year’s levels.
In the U.S., fractional and charter operators flew 24,775 segments last week, 3% more than in 2022.
The 96,252 charter and fractional flights were just 2% under last year’s totals.
