Private Jet Flight Activity Analysis – 2023 – Week 44

Worldwide private jet flight activity dives as Europe sees 21% drop week-to-week in flying.

By Doug Gollan, November 10, 2023

Driven by a 21% week-to-week drop in Europe, worldwide private jet flights (64,868 segments) dropped 8% in Week 44, according to the latest WingX data.

Global flights were 5% under 2022 levels for the week ending Nov. 5, 2023.

WingX Managing Director Richard Koe tells us, “In recent weeks, bizjet activity has tracked 2022 volumes, but this week saw a big drop, particularly in Europe, where regional activity slipped behind 2019 trends for the first time this year. Other regional activity also stalled, notably in the Middle East, as connections with Israel have declined abruptly.”

He continues, “Five days into November 2023, global business jet segments were 4% fewer than November last year and 23% more than November 2019.”

By contrast, scheduled airline activity was 15% ahead of last year, although 8% down on 2019.

U.S. flights (47,399 segments) dropped 7% week-to-week, 4% under 2022 for the same week.

Europe (8,079 segments) was 15% down compared to 2022.

Germany (-21%) and France (-20%) saw the most significant drops compared to 2022.

Middle East flying (1,307 flights) was 17% down week-to-week and 9% off last year’s numbers.
