Europe’s slow start for summer travel is dragging private jet flight activity, according to WingX weekly data.
Worldwide private jet activity (70,613 segments) was up 3% week-to-week and just 1% under last year, according to the latest WingX data.
WingX Managing Director Richard Koe notes, as usual, there are geographic distinctions.
“Despite the slowest start to June in the last two years, U.S. bizjet activity remains robust, with activity significantly ahead of comparable June 2019,” Koe says.
Flight segments (48,641) in the world’s biggest private jet market were up 7% from the previous week.
US flying as flat with 2023 levels for Week 23.
Koe continues, “In contrast, the European summer is looking weaker, with just a 3% foothold over June five years ago.”
Koe adds, “The D-Day anniversary lifted business jet arrivals into airports in the Normandy region of France. At the start of the party season in Ibiza, there is a noticeable absence of bizjets from France and the United Kingdom.”
Europe (12,527 segments) saw both a 6% week-over-week and year-over-year drop.
