Private Jet Flight Activity Analysis – 2024 – Week 29

Strong private jet flight activity in the U.S. helped power worldwide private jet flying to a 4% year-over-year gain in Week 29.

Worldwide private jet flights (76,434 segments) increased by 5% week-to-week, putting Week 29 totals 4% ahead of last year.

Flying for the week ending July 21, 2024, was just 90 segments off the 52-week high set in Week 26.

WingX Managing Director Richard Koe says, “Bizjet activity in July is looking strong, with growth trends compared to last year, in contrast to year-on-year declines in the Spring.”

He adds, “Notably, on the day of Cloudstrike, on July 19, compared to the closest Monday in 2023, the July 17, global bizjet activity was up by 7%, whereas scheduled airline sectors were down 1% year on year.”

U.S. flying (50,519 segments) increased 8% sequentially and 5% on a year-over-year basis.

Private flights in California (4,602 segments) were 7% higher than in 2023.

European private jet flying (15,026 segments) gained 2% week-to-week and 5% year-over-year.

Worldwide fractional and charter operators set a 52-week high with 41,117 segments.

That’s up 6% week-to-week, 7% year-over-year, and over the trailing four weeks, a 3% gain.

U.S. fractional and charter operators led the way (27,443 segments) with an 8% week-to-week gain, putting Week 29 numbers 10% ahead of last year.

California fractional and charter flights (3,002 segments) were up 10% year-over-year.

Over the past month, U.S. charter and fractional flying was 4% higher than in 2023.

European charter and fractional flying (10,838 flights) were 1% up sequentially and 2% higher year-over-year.

Over the trailing four weeks, Asia and South American charter and fractional flying were up 16% and 29%, respectively.

However, those 1,308 flights were less than the 1,515 departures in the U.K. for Week 29 alone.
