The leisure travel market continued to prop up business aviation’s global private jet flight activity this week.
Worldwide private jet flight activity (69,409 segments) dropped 1% the previous week, putting it flat over the trailing four weeks (290,255) year-over-year.
“The importance of the leisure market in Europe is conspicuous this month as the Olympics sees a surge in high-end European tourists,” WingX Managing Director Richard Koe notes.
Despite a 9% sequential drop, Europe flights (12,200) were 9% ahead of last year in Week 32.
That helped boost the trailing four weeks to a 5% improvement over last year.
France (+18%), Switzerland, and Italy (both +12%) were up double digits year-over-year for the week.
The U.S. (46,173 flights) was flat week-to-week and 3% down from last year.
Its 191,684 segments over the past month were flat with 2023.

As Koe noted, leisure travel is important for the industry.
The Olympics and UEFA24 helped boost fractional and charter flying by 1% compared to 2023 during the past month.
