Worldwide private jet flight activity is just 1% below 2023’s totals through the first nine months, according to WingX.
Worldwide private jet flight activity (73,008) was flat in Week 39 compared to the previous week.
Year-over-year segments dropped 3% for the seven days ending Sept. 29, 2024.
For the trailing four weeks, private jet flying was down 4%.
WingX Managing Director Richard Koe says, “Nine months into the year, global bizjet sectors have surpassed the 2.7 million mark, 1% behind comparable last year, equivalent to 55,000 fewer sectors flown.”
He adds, “Bizjet demand picked up in the last week, having been notably weaker in the first half of September. The trend in the key U.S. market was still slightly negative, with the hurricane impact in Florida offsetting the growth in bizjet activity in Texas. In Europe, U.K. bizjet activity was up, but demand has stagnated in Central and Southern Europe.
U.S. private jet flights (49,429 segments) were flat week-to-week and down 2% year-over-year.
Florida (4,042 flights) saw an 8% sequential drop and 15% year-over-year decline.
Still, Sunshine State private jet departures were 45.2% up compared to the same week in 2019, before Covid.
However, California saw the steepest drop over the past four weeks, down 9% year-over-year.
European activity (12,337 segments) was flat week-to-week and down 5% year-over-year.
Over the trailing 28 days, there was a 2% drop with 49,444 departures.
