Despite a drop in Week 40, worldwide private jet flying in 2024 has stayed 2% below last year’s levels per WingX.
Worldwide private jet activity in Week 40 dropped by 3% week-to-week, with 70,878 movements.
The WingX data shows flying 4% below the same period in 2023.
WingX Managing Director Richard Koe says, “Business jet demand is navigating turbulent waters, with the approach of the U.S. elections, outgoing and incoming hurricanes across the Southeast of the country, economic stagnation in Europe, and escalating conflicts in the Middle East. The combined headwinds are clearly widening the declines compared to 2023, which was a reset from the post-Covid high points in 2022.”
Year-to-date fractional operators accounted for 18.3% of global flights, up 10% year-over-year.
Aircraft management charter operators were down 1.2% through the 2024’s first nine months, plus six days.
They held a 23.9% share of flying.
Branded charter operators saw flying down by 9.7%, leaving the group with a 15.6% share of the total market.
Corporate fight departments, 17.9% of the total market, saw the most significant drop, down 12.0%.
Private flight departments, with a 12.0% share, were down 5.6% in segments.
The three biggest U.S. states for private flights, Florida (-1.4%), Texas (-0.8%), and California (-2.5%), all saw year-over-year year-to-date drops.
New York State (+0.3%) was the only state in the top seven to be in the black.
Overall, the worldwide private jet market is down 2% year-to-date per WingX.

Europe (11,296) dropped 8% week-to-week, putting flying 4% under 2023.
