An 11% year-over-year gain in U.S. private jet activity boosted global growth for business jets 7% according to the latest WingX data.
Powered by the United States, global private jet flight activity (64,358 segments) surged 8% week-to-week in Week 3.
Those totals were 7% up year-over-year.
For January 2025, private jet departures are up 3% worldwide compared to 2024 per WingX.
U.S. private jet departures (45,086 segments) were up 11% sequentially and the same amount year-over-year.
Managing Director Richard Koe says, “The bumper arrival of business jets for the inauguration appears to confirm the strong sense in the industry that the change in the U.S. government is good news for the bizjet industry.”
Over 700 private jets arrived at Washington, D.C. airports from Friday to Sunday before Donald J. Trump was sworn in as the 47th president.
That’s 300% more than during the previous weekend.
Koe notes that it is also four times more than the three days before President Biden’s inauguration in 2021.
The top markets for flights into the nation’s capital were New York (69), Palm Beach (45), Dallas (38), Miami (29), and San Francisco (27), with Houston and Los Angeles tied with 22.
He adds, “The turnaround in bizjet activity in the U.S., which had been flat through most of last year, stands in contrast to the European market, where activity receded 6% in the last week and is trending at 2019 levels.”
Europe’s private jet segments (7,497) were down 6% year-over-year despite a 10% week-to-week gain.
