AirStream Jets steps up to help the Bahamas

Jet card broker AirStream Jets is waiving its 20% international surcharge for travel to the Bahamas through the end of 2019

The best way to help the Bahamas recover is to take a vacation in the Bahamas. It may sound odd, but 60% of the country’s GPD comes through tourism, and since 90% of its upscale hotel rooms remain open, unaffected by the wrath of Dorian, falling arrivals create a second economic crisis.

Beyond the hotels, their supply chains include numerous local businesses, and then there are retail shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, taxi services, and the companies that support those businesses.

For Flexjet, Hurricane Dorian continues

The long-running hurricane hit close to the heart as Flexjet helped owners evacuate their extended family from the Bahamas, and now helps with the recovery effort

Executing an operations plan before, during and after a hurricane is not out of the ordinary for most major fleet operators, and Flexjet, the second-largest seller of fractional shares is no exception. However, this time was a bit different, its chief operating officer Megan Wolf tells Private Jet Card Comparisons.

One of the nice things about having access to a private jet is being able to get to places that take more time if you are flying commercially, and so it was that a number Flexjet’s owners had homes in areas of the Bahamas that were hardest hit by Hurricane Dorian.

Jet cards show their value during Hurricane Dorian

Jet cards show their benefits as the local supply of private jets ran low, and on-demand charter customers faced skyrocketing prices

A jet card with fixed one-way rates and guaranteed availability can protect you from surge pricing when there is limited supply or high-demand

With Hurricane Dorian baring down, the local supply of private jets ran low in Florida. In other words, the many private jets available for charter had already headed out with passengers and as you might expect, there weren’t many people who wanted to come back into the path of a major hurricane.

On-demand charter customers were faced with skyrocketing prices, not from gouging but the cost as aircraft had to be ferried in for their flights.

It shows how jet cards can be an important part of your private aviation solutions portfolio, often proven whenever there are natural disasters, be they fires, floods, winter storms, family emergencies that require short-notice booking, or in the case of Dorian, hurricanes.
