Boston-based jet card broker Magellan Jets is promoting its Phenom 300 jet card ahead of a planned rate increase. The hike is scheduled to go into effect on August 16. Most of all, it’s making the point that its version of Embraer’s popular light jet is still available.

Magellan Jets is revamping its line-up of semi-specific jet cards. The move is designed to focus its jet card line-up around Cessna’s Citation, Bombardier, and Gulfstream aircraft.

Textron Aviation’s Citation Excel/XLS, Mustang, and King Air 200 were the most flown aircraft in their respective categories

Gulfstream Aerospace had the most popular large cabin and super long-range private jets in 2020, according to just-released data from Argus TRAQPak.

At the same time, Textron Aviation saw three of its business aircraft take the top spot in three of the eight categories. Its Beechcraft King Air 200 was the most flown multi-engine turboprop. The Cessna Citation Mustang was the most popular very light jet. Its Citation Excel/XLS/XLS+ won the midsize private jet category.

No doubt, many of those involved in manufacturing private jets recall fondly 2008. That’s when the industry delivered 1,317 new business jets. It was an increase from 2007’s then-record mark of 1,137 new private jets delivered. That busted the 2006 numbers, also a then-record of 887 units delivered.

With the Great Recession, deliveries of new private jets dropped to 874 units in 2009, even more to 767 in 2010, then 696 in 2011, before bottoming out in 2012 at 672 aircraft.
