This Private Jet Owner Made A Flight Path In The Shape Of A Texas Longhorn

By Doug Gollan, September 19, 2017

Here’s a great idea for a flight to nowhere that supports your favorite sports team

Got some extra hours on your jet card that you want to burn? Here’s a novel idea, and it only took 307 miles of flying, so even at slower flight speeds, it will only set you back a few hours of time. Do like the apparent Texas Longhorns’ fans at Cowlin Aviation and fly an outline of your favorite state and the logo of your favorite team.

According to FlightAware, last Sunday a Piper Cherokee took off from West Houston Airport and two-and-a-half hours later it was back. Most of the flight plan was flown between Flight Level 2,200 and 2,700 feet at a low speed, which is understandable when you aren’t just flying, but creating a work of art. When it was finished, on FlightAware, the flight path looked like the below, an outline of the Lone Star state and the University of Texas mascot.

The flight came less than 24 hours after the Texas football team surprised a favored University of Southern California, going to overtime in Los Angeles before falling. This weekend, with the support of the faithful, will try to beat Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.

SB Nation, which first reported on the story, noted that it’s not the first time fans have supported their sports team. Boeing flew the number 12 to represent the fans of the Seattle Seahawks football team, often referred to as the 12th man.
