If you are thinking about heading to Vegas, why not go to the best?
In the just-released Travel+Leisure reader World’s Best Awards, the magazine writes of Wynn Las Vegas, “The top property this year drew praise as lavish as its own setting, with one super fan enthusing that the hotel has the ability to envelop you in the best of Las Vegas.”
T+L isn’t alone. Forbes Travel Guide gives Wynn Las Vegas four 5-star ratings. That’s right, four ratings for two hotels. Wynn Las Vegas, Wynn Tower Suites, Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, and Encore Tower Suites each captured the top tier of recognition after undisclosed, multiple-day visits by Forbes’ inspectors. More details about the choices in the Accommodations section below.
Need another opinion? Conde Nast Traveler adds, “The Strip has no shortage of hotels, but despite its size, the Wynn manages to feel intimate and draws a clued-up international crowd who appreciate a player with style.”
Despite the current situation, feedback on review sites from June and July we reviewed was uniformly 4-to-5 of 5 stars or 9-to-10 out of 10 stars, based on the platform. Key comments noted high levels of cleanliness, top service, and consistent enforcement of masks, now a legal requirement.
So what’s the new normal in Las Vegas and at Wynn?
For starters, you can stay in the resort for your entire visit. After all, everything you came to Vegas for is under one roof at Wynn.
Hard to get VIP tables and Cabanas at the pools are relatively easy. However, book in advance.
VIP shopping can be arranged (More in the Shopping section). If you always had the urge to channel your James Bond or George Clooney at the tables, but are concerned that you aren’t a pro, the gaming experience is relaxed.
Both Wynn and Encore offer a hotel-within-a-hotel VIP experience, including private entrances, separate elevators, additional services, private pools and restaurants. These VIP accommodations are noted by the designator “Tower Suites” creating a hotel-in-a-hotel environment.
The exception is the Wynn Fairway Villas with all the privileges of Tower Suites guests but located in an area adjacent to Wynn Golf Club.
Overlooking the Wynn Golf Club, the famed Wynn Fairway Villas are a serene respite steps from everything you want in Las Vegas. I’ve personally been to many during the annual Couture Jewelry Show when designers rent them for the week, converting them to showrooms.
There are four options: Main floor with private pools, or the second floor with terraces, and then one or two bedrooms, with the other amenities remaining the same. Ranging from 2,411 to 3,224 sq. ft. they are expansive, so if you want to minimize your walk down the hallway ask for a villa close to the private elevator near the entrance. If you want the feel of having your own luxury home on a golf course, Wynn Fairway Villas are the way to go.

Entertain visitors in the full living room and dining alcove with granite wet bar and guest powder room of your Wynn Tower Salon Suite. Enjoy a treatment in the Salon Suite’s private massage room.
The bedroom of this 1,817 sq. ft. suite connects to the master bath with dual sinks, whirlpool deep-soak tub, and walk-in closets. There’s a king-sized pillow-top Wynn Dream Bed, table and chairs, 55” HDTV and bedside touch-screen controls.
The Wynn Tower Suite Parlor category features a separate living room and bedroom, for those who welcome guests and also love to retreat to privacy at the end of the evening. At 1,280 sq. ft. with floor-to-ceiling views, 55” HDTV, and the same size Italian marble bathroom with dual sinks, a whirlpool deep-soak tub, a 13” TV, and a walk-in closet, you will find plenty of space.
The largest suites in the Wynn-Encore complex, the Encore Tower Three-Bedroom Duplex suites each feature a private gym, billiard room, and massage room.
Spanning two levels with 5,829-sq. ft. of space, each of the three master bedrooms has a whirlpool deep-soak tub, separate shower, twin sinks, and roomy closets making it a great choice if you are traveling with adult children or parents.
The 3,475 sq. ft. Encore Tower Two Bedroom Apartments are designed to evoke a comfortable residential feel. The entry foyer leads past the private massage room, separate powder room, and butler’s pantry with refrigerator, onto the grand living room and dining area. You’ll love the floor-to-ceiling, corner views of Las Vegas.
The 2,261-sq. ft. Encore Tower Suite Salon category includes a spacious living and dining room with wet bar, plus a private massage room. The large and wide living room overlooks the Las Vegas Strip from a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows. A dining alcove allows for in-room gatherings, as does the full marble wet bar with buffet, and powder room for guests. The writing desk provides an ideal space to conduct business. Take advantage of the private massage room. The bedroom features 55” HDTV and master bath with glass-enclosed rain shower, whirlpool deep-soak tub, soft bathrobes, twin sinks, and closets.
Unlike the Wynn’s Tower Parlor Suites, the Encore’s version at 1,408-sq. ft. also have a private massage room in the Salon Suites. The main difference is a smaller living room and there isn’t a seating at your bar
The resort’s full collection of fine-dining and casual eateries is open, many with outdoor seating options so there is ample space to social distance while dining alfresco. Here are some top picks.
Encore’s newest restaurant is Elio, created in partnership with renowned restaurateurs Enrique Olvera, Daniela Soto-Innes and Santiago Perez of Casamata. Guests can delight in a menu of contemporary Mexican dishes from executive chef Sarah Thompson and enjoy an energetic and festive environment. Ideal for late-night or after-dinner drinks, Elio’s lounge offers a full menu and signature cocktails.
Rooted in traditional Mexican flavors and seasonal ingredients, Elio’s menu is highlighted by signature dishes that include the tuna tataki rubbed in adobo with nopales, scallion and a smoked soy; whole red snapper served with herbs, citrus, corn tortillas and salsa crudo; herb guacamole with homemade tostadas; and vibrant green mole made with pepitas, nuts and herbs served with Tokyo turnips a la plancha and hoja santa tortillas.
Chef David Walzog presents his unique interpretation of the classic American steakhouse. Entrees are paired with sides that allow Chef Walzog to show off his culinary chops with seasonal and exotic ingredients. Dinner served nightly. Dine while enjoying the resort’s outdoor entertainment presentation, the Lake of Dreams.
Zagat readers say, “grilled-to-perfection” steaks and a “not-to-be-missed” view of the show on the lake, calling it “outstanding in every way” and adding it is a natural for “special celebrations.”
Walzog’s second Wynn venue, Lakeside, turns classic American cuisine on its side. He uses modern interpretations of seafood, meat, and poultry dishes. The master embraces one of five techniques—grilled, braised, poached, oven-roasted, or char-broiled. You’ll be surrounded by a pine tree mountain. Enjoy sweeping views of the Lake of Dreams. This sensory-driven experience is about fabulous food, spirited revelry, and good times.
Gayot notes, the “extensive wine list filling six pages, with a selection of labels from around the world.” To conclude, the guide recommends, “Try the espresso, apple and Champagne truffles, lemon meringue pie with pink peppercorn crust, or the bacon chocolate bar.”
Conde Nast Traveler says, “Mizumi offers some of the most prized cuisine in Las Vegas in a romantic, magical environment.” Drawing its inspiration from traditional Japanese design motifs, the restaurant captures the sophistication and edge of modern Japanese cities, creating the perfect complement to Executive Chef Min Kim’s refined cuisine. Enjoy unimpeded views of the captivating eco-garden and waterfall designed to transport you from the desert to the Far East. The impossible to get Pagoda Table (pictured above) is now possible. Maybe, a reason alone to head to Vegas now.
But what to eat? Mizumi provides authentic omakase (meaning “to trust”) experiences. The chefs craft a multi-course set dinner using fresh, seasonal ingredients flown in from Japan. The menu outlines three levels of omakase. Ume, Take, and Matsu—each of which includes seasonal appetizers, a sashimi platter, a selection of sushi, and dessert
There are four pools between Wynn and Encore. That includes two main ones, and two for the private use of Towers Suites guests. It’s also a great opportunity to score the usually impossible-to-get private cabanas (pictured above).
Located within Wynn, The Spa at Wynn (above) has been completely reimagined with a contemporary new aesthetic. The new design concept and color palette evokes the serenity of nightfall to relax the mind and body. There are flexible, customizable treatments designed to maximize your experience.
Forbes Travel Guide notes, “While the treatments and services are designed to revive and relax like no other, a significant factor of this spot’s allure lies in its naturally cozy and luxurious ambience and décor, which is apparent as soon as you step foot inside.” Two fitness centers, located at Wynn and Encore, offer an array of state-of-the-art equipment, including Cybex treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent and upright bikes, and strength equipment.
Just steps away inside of Wynn Plaza, the resort’s Strip-front luxury lifestyle and shopping complex, is SoulCycle. The indoor cycling phenomenon ideal for visitors focused on fitness. Powered by state-of-the-art cycling studio SoulCycle offers daily classes taught by world-class instructors
If you haven’t played a round at Wynn Golf Club lately, you haven’t played the new 18-hole championship course. It was recently redesigned by Tom Fazio, located right in Wynn’s backyard.
Don’t worry about figuring out which clubs to use or the best putting lines. Golf magazine notes, “The caddie corps includes 13 PGA of America members, as well as a young woman who was once the No.1 player on the UNLV women’s golf team and the top-ranked amateur in her native Britain.”
Golf Digest points out 400,000 cubic yards of dirt were moved in the makeover. Reviewers from Golf Advisor gives it a 5-star rating.
It says, “This golf course offers more than just a beautiful setting and views of the Vegas skyline, it’s a formidable test that requires careful thought and strategy on each hole. The lengthy course feels even longer thanks to the many elevation changes. There are thousands of pines and shrubs (7,000 mature trees and 100,000 shrubs) enclosing the contoured fairways and shaping the narrow landing areas. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes and strategically placed bunkers lurk along the green sides. The Wynn Las Vegas golf course is a tough but fair test.
