Global rivate jet flight activity for the week ended July 24, 2022, ticked up 2% compared to last week, according to the latest WingX data.
The 74,679 business jet departures were 7% ahead of Week 29 levels last year.
Over the past month, the 289,447 private jet departures worldwide was a 3% increase year-over-year.
Still, the outlook is getting stormy.
“The long and record-breaking upswing in global business jet demand is coming to an end, most obviously in the key U.S. hubs in Florida, California, and Texas,” says WingX Managing Director Richard Koe.
As Europe struggles with airport chaos, Koe adds, “In Europe, the second half of the month is slower than the start of summer, with Germany the weak spot. Bizjet demand in the UK is still hot, with a particular bounce in transatlantic connections with the U.S.”
Earlier this month, rival forecaster Argus TraqPak pulled down its growth forecast for private jet flights in July.
In the U.S., the week’s 49,555 private jet flights marked a 4% week-to-week gain and a 5% improvement over Week 29 in 2021.
However, over the past month, flying was two-tenths of a percentage point below last year.
Private jet activity in Florida, California, and Texas all saw negative growth in the four-week trailing compared to 2021.
While Europe’s private jet flights fell to 16,662 week-to-week, they remained 9% up on Week 29 in 2021.
Over the trailing four months, there was a 13% increase.
