Private Jet Flight Activity Analysis – 2022 – Week 42

Europe private jet flight activity continues to dive in the latest numbers from WingX

Global private jet flight activity ticked down 1% from the previous week, with 73,933 departures, leaving volume 2% below 2021 levels for Week 42.

In the U.S., there were 58,040 private jet flights, a 1% week-to-week drop and two-tenths of a percent below last year.

Last week Orlando hosted private aviation’s biggest annual confab – NBAA-BACE, where optimism reigned. For Florida, its 6,789 flights for the week represented a 6% week-to-week gain, 8% ahead of 2021.

Things weren’t as sunny in Europe, where the week’s 10,944 flights represented a 6% week-to-week drop and were 18% below Week 42’s 2021 activity.

For the trailing four weeks, Europe was down 14%.

Asia continues as a bright spot, up 10% week-to-week with 2,252 flights, 26% ahead of the same period in 2021.

Major markets from the U.K. (-17%) to Germany (-10%), France (-15%), Switzerland (-19%), and Italy (-17%) were all down double digits compared to last year.

Fractional and charter operators, however, saw continued slowing.

Global fractional and charter departures dipped 3% week-to-week to 38,512 flights, 9% below last year’s record-setting pace.

Still, the numbers were closer to the 52-week high (42,473) versus the low of 31,911.

The U.S. recorded 28,021 fractional and charter departures, a 3% week-to-week drop and 7% below last year.

In Eruope, fractional and charter flights dropped 3% from Week 41, 20% below 2021.

Asia’s 583 flights were a bright spot, up 15% from a year ago.
