Private Jet Flight Activity Analysis – 2024 – Week 20

Worldwide private jet activity finished Week 20 just 1.4% down from 2023 year-to-date, 32.2% ahead of pre-Covid 2019.

By Doug Gollan, May 23, 2024

Worldwide private jet flight activity (73,249 flights) increased by 3% week-to-week ahead of the industry gathering next week in Geneva for the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition, known as EBACE.

While edging up against the 52-week high of 76,521 segments, flying was 1% below 2023 levels for Week 20.

Year-to-date through May 19, 2024, worldwide private jet segments were down 1.4% compared to last year and 2.7% lower than 2022’s peak.

However, they are 32.2% higher than the same period in pre-Covid 2019.

Scheduled airlines are 12.0% higher than five years ago.

WingX Managing Director Richard Koe says, “The latest week shows stable activity compared to last year, with fractional activity still booming, in contrast to some weaker charter demand, particularly at the light end of the market. Various gala events will see peaks in traffic in Europe in the next few weeks, starting with the Champions League Finals bringing visitors to London airports next week.”

For the U.S., there was a 2% week-to-week gain (50,084 segments), 1% below last year.

Europe enters EBACE off a 6% week-to-week gain (11,413 segments), 3% up on 2023.
