Pre-owned private jet brokers expect a 4% increase in 2026 and are forecasting 2027 will be even better with a 6% gain.
A just-published survey by investment bank Jefferies shows environmental stigma and tariffs are unlikely to impact future private jet sales.
The report’s results are based on a survey of over 80 private jet brokers worldwide in May.
Dealers of pre-owned private jets forecast a 4% increase in 2026 over 2025.
The brokers expect 2026 to be even better, with a 6% increase over this year.
Of respondents, 34% of respondents expect volumes to be flat in 2027.
32% expect volumes up 1-to-9%.
However, 57% of respondents anticipate higher volumes.
Since its January survey, market sentiment declined from 7.2 out of 10 to 6.8.
Per Jefferies:
‘From a market expansion perspective, 25% of respondents indicated lower used jet inventories are driving the market, while another 23% pointed to a stronger used market due to lead times for new jets. Only 14% pointed to the return of Bonus Depreciation boosting demand, compared to 57% in our January 2026 survey. On the other hand, 9% of respondents indicated that the market was slowing due to geopolitical concerns.’
One key trend is “more wealth than ever before impacting demand for aircraft.”
What are the biggest risks to private jet sales in the future?
44% cite the economic slowdown in key markets, followed by 26% citing the impact of Middle East unrest.
Concerns about the economic slowdown are the same as in January.
Long lead times and supply chain issues in the new jet market, driving customers toward asset-light options, were noted by 8% of those surveyed.
At the bottom of the list were tariffs and stigma over environmental concerns.
Just 5% of respondents said anti-private jet campaigns or Trump tariffs are likely to put off buyers.
Still, brokers noted the market can change quickly.
Middle East unrest did not even make January’s list of concerns.
One broker said he has lost two sales due to the unrest.
