Development of the G550 began in the 1990s, with the first flight on July 18, 2002. It was certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in August 2003.
The cabin of the G550 is 43.11 feet long, 7.3 feet wide, and 6.2 feet high.
The G550 is powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710-C4-11 turbofan engines, which provide a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.87 and a range of up to 6,750 nautical miles (7,760 miles).
