The Trump Effect: Private Jet Fliers Shift From Palm Beach To Boca Raton

Posted in: News by Doug Gollan, March 31, 2017

Temporary flight restrictions at Palm Beach International Airport during visits by President Donald J. Trump to his Mar-a-Lago “Winter White House” are causing private jets to shift operations to Boca Raton Airport, 25 miles to the south, with weekends when the President is in the Sunshine State seeing 400 movements, double the norm.

Trump has already made five visits since taking office Jan. 20 and is scheduled to be back next week, hosting Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday.
Flying to Boca Raton means avoiding having to stop for a TSA security check at gateway airports, which include Orlando International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Dulles International Airport and Teterboro Airport.
