Delta Private Jets offers SkyMiles bonus for purchase of Sky Access

Sky Access is Delta Private Jets’ empty leg program

Through Dec. 31, 2018, you can earn 20,000 SkyMiles if you purchase a Sky Access membership and provide your SkyMiles account number at the point of purchase. Delta Private Jets flights are operated by Delta Private Jets, Inc., an FAA-certificated Far Part 135 air carrier, or by another FAA-certificated Part 135 or Part 121 air carrier.  The program was launched in January and updated in May.

The benefits include empty leg access and fixed hourly flying:

  • Empty legs from Delta Private Jets
  • Guaranteed private jet travel from Delta Private Jets at a fixed hourly rate
  • 20% discount off select, published Delta Air Lines fares

Examples of some current empty legs in the program are below and range from light jets such as the Citation CJ2 to super-midsize aircraft such as the Citation X and Citation 605 which can seat up to nine passengers.

The first year membership is $8,500 and each year thereafter is current $6,000. Empty legs are flights scheduled without passengers to ensure an aircraft is positioned for a trip at the right airport and the right time. This repositioning creates empty legs and brings great opportunity for last-minute trips at no fee for Sky Access members. Just one empty leg’s value could be greater than the cost of your Sky Access membership.

Sky Access members have access to view and book Empty Legs no per leg cost, no limit on the quantity of booked empty legs, and you get the entire aircraft, not just individual seats. That said, the value of the 20,000 miles is negligible. Still, we like the program. Separately, Delta Private Jets recently increased the starting point for its jet card program from $100,000 to $150,000.
