Wheels Up is already leveraging its purchase of Citation X operator Mountain Aviation two weeks ago. It’s rolling out a rate cap on flights between the East Coast and Western U.S.
Customers booking super-midsize private jets at least seven days in advance will see pricing capped at $29,995, plus 7.5% Federal Excise tax.
The new pricing structure to flights leaving from all Atlantic Ocean states, plus Vermont and Western U.S. states. They include Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
There are 65 restricted dates for pay-as-you-go members. At the $200,000 deposit level, there are 20 restricted days and 10 days for the $400,000 level. On those peak days, normal pricing applies. Members pay a capped hourly rate of $8,995 or $9,295, plus FET, based on their fund level.
For a six hour coast to coast flight, the move cuts maximum cost by around 45%.
There’s a $5,000 surcharge for departures between 8 pm and 6 am. There are additional roundtrip discounts for stays of two nights or less.
Wheels Up is the latest jet card seller to offer fixed or capped rates for transcontinental and longer flights. It joins Ajax Jets, FXAIR, Sentient Jet, and XO. Other providers offer long-flight discounts. NetJets offers a special card that provides a super-midsize private jet for flights over 3.5 hours at a discounted price.
Mountain Aviation is the largest operator of the popular Citation Xs. It’s one of the fastest private jets on the market and has a coast-to-coast range.
