Stephanie Chung, the chief growth officer at Wheels Up, was named to Adweek’s 2021 Women Trailblazers honors. The list features 35 women “who are building a better future for everyone—against all odds and often because of them.”
Other honorees include U.S. vice president Kamala Harris, Gina Chua, executive editor at Reuters, Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, MSNBC president Rashida Jones, Deutsch advertising vp Reonna Johnson, Initiative global CEO Amy Armstrong, NBC Universal co-chair Frances Berwick, and actress, author and producer Justine Bateman.
Adweek recognized Chung in part for her efforts to expand Wheels Up’s democratization efforts to diverse markets.
“Typically, private aviation has gone after one type of demographic,” Chung told the magazine. “What the growth team does under my leadership is focus on making sure that all people know that they’re welcome to a seat.”
Chung noted that the efforts of Wheels Up are not just being reflected in its marketing. She says the company is creating a “pipeline of diverse candidates.”
Chung and chief experience officer Gail Grimmett were recently picked by Oprah magazine for their role in “paving the way for women in leadership positions.” Last year Chung was highlighted for breaking racial and gender barriers in aviation.
