By Doug Gollan, August 11, 2022

Global private jet flight activity declined 5% from last week, slipping to 69,755 departures, according to the latest WingX data.

Private jet flight growth stalls

“Business aviation activity growth has stalled, with August this year modestly slower than August last year. The declines have deepened in the U.S., especially in California, and in the charter market more generally. Europe is now also seeing fewer business jet flights than last year, notably in France and Spain. We expect that flight demand will trend down by at least 5% this month compared to August last year,” says WingX Managing Director Richard Koe.

For the trailing four weeks, global private jet flights remained 3% ahead of 2021 levels, although they were just 0.3% ahead of Week 31 total’s from last year.

The U.S. market saw a 4% decline with 47,332 weekly private jet flights, 0.4% behind the same week last year, and just 1% ahead of 2021 during the past month.

While Florida saw a 2% week-to-week increase with 4,592 private jet flights, it is flat to last year during the past month.

In Europe, flights for the week ending Aug. 7, 2022, with a 12% week-to-week decline with 14,138 segments. That was 3% lower than Week 31 in 2021.

For the past month, Europe’s private jet flight activity was still 5% ahead of last year.
