By-the-seat Surf Air flights between San Carlos, Truckee, and Santa Barbara start at $299.
Surf Air is dropping membership fees for its shrinking legacy network of by-the-seat flights between private terminals.
According to an Instagram post, “We’re so excited to announce that Scheduled flights are now available to buy a single seat at a time. With no Surf Air Membership required, you can purchase seats online now.”
Prices start from $299.
These flights differ from merger partner Southern Airways, which offers traditional commuter flights.
The legacy Surf Air scheduled by-the-seat flights operate between private terminals like Aero, JSX, and XO by-the-seat options.
However, its route network for those services has shrunk.
Its website shows only flights from San Carlos south to Santa Barbara and east to Truckee.
In 2017, it bought Rise, a similar operation in Texas.
After the purchase, Surf Air said it would offer 445 weekly flights to 17 destinations.
It also announced plans to add Las Vegas, Bentonville, Midland, New Orleans, Scottsdale, and Taos within 18 months.
There were also plans for weekend service to Cabo San Lucas, Aspen, and Sun Valley is also in the plan.
The 2011 start-up gained attention for offering members unlimited by-the-seat flights in exchange for a monthly fee.
It currently offers on-demand charters.
Last year, it went public through a direct listing.
