Jet The World is adding its first large cabin jet to its trio of Hawker 800XPs with plans to revise its current jet card program.
Jet The World is continuing its expansion from broker to hybrid as it grows its operator business.
After beginning as a charter broker in 2009, the New Jersey-based flight provider decided to become an operator last year.
It currently has three Hawker 800XPs.
Now, it’s in the process of adding its first large cabin jet, a Challenger 601, all based in Kissimmee.
CEO R.J. LaSasso tells Private Jet Card Comparisons, “We decided after seeing as operators grew too fast, the service was going down.”
He continues, “Most operators are brokers but take care of their direct customers first. We want to take care of our customers, and we also want to be an operator other brokers come to because we understand what it’s like to be a broker.”
LaSasso, who owns two of Hawkers, says direct ownership gives him a better understanding of other owners.
“There are a lot of companies that overcharge (private jet) owners. I see the bills and the costs, not as somebody trying to make money off owners. I’m not a super-rich person. We want to make money, not take advantage of owners,” he says.
While Georgia Jet suspended charter operations earlier this week, citing the pilot shortage, LaSasso says he isn’t having an issue.
“There is a good pool of experienced pilots who enjoy flying Part 135. Pilots are the face of our company, and we are finding pilots who enjoy Part 135 that interaction with the customers,” he says.
Jet The World plans to revise its jet card program in the coming months.
He also says he plans to continue growing both its brokerage and operator businesses.
