South America is a bright spot for private jet flight activity in Week 38, but here’s what it means.
Despite a 5% week-to-week gain, Week 38 (72,821 segments) was 2% below the same period last year.
WingX data shows that worldwide private jet flights have been down 4% from 2023 over the past four weeks (275,726 segments).
“Business jet demand is ebbing fast this month, particularly in the small and midsize fleets. In the U.S., the weakest spot is California. In Europe, the post-Olympics hangover is showing up in much lower flight activity, notably in Germany,” says WingX Managing Director Richard Koe.
In the U.S. (49,232), a 7% sequential gain still left movements 3% down from a year ago and 5% down over the past month.
California (4,387 segments) was down 7% year over year for the week and 8% over the four-week trailing period.
Europe (12,395) was off 1% week-to-week and 2% year-over-year for Week 38 as well as the past month.

If you are looking for bright spots, head to South America.
Charter and fractional operators enjoyed a 90% year-over-year boost.
Alas, that only meant 38 departures for the month.
That’s equivalent to the volume of one hour in the U.S.
