Charter Flight Group hit with $542,343 judgment, new lawsuit

Charter broker CFG faces a new lawsuit for $77,781 after the Naples, Florida-based company allegedly failed to provide a flight or a refund.

The United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, has ordered Jet Genius and its Charter Flight Group private jet charter brokerage to pay $542,343.

Judge Aileen Cannon signed the default final judgment.

There are $11,500 in attorney’s fees along with the principal amount of $425,000, and $65,842.39 in prejudgment interest.

Charter Flight Group could still appeal the ruling.

Plaintiff Plane Talk Travel had paid FlyCFG, part of the Jet Genius group of charter brokerages, over $600,000 for a charter flight from Israel to the United States.

The flight was supposed to repatriate clients stranded in Israel after the October 7, 2023, terrorist attacks.

The lawsuit was filed in May 2024.

The travel agency alleged it paid CFG $630,785 for the one-way flight aboard an Airbus A330, which never took place.

Its filing claimed, “Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, having failed to provide the charter flight, CFG was obligated to return the entire charter price to PTT (Plane Talk Travel).”

It further stated, “Despite the fact that Mr. Brown, on behalf of CFG, admitted in writing to PTT that CFG was obligated to return the entire charter price to PTT, CFG has refused to do so, instead returning only $205,785.00 of the charter price to PTT, leaving a balance of $425,000 of the charter price that remains due and owing to PTT, exclusive of interest and attorney’s fees.”

New Jet Genius Lawsuit

At the same time, Michael Nix has filed a separate lawsuit against the private jet charter broker.

It names Jet Genius Florida Holdings, Charter Flight Group, and its principal, Jordan Brown.

The amended complaint was filed on June 20, 2025, in the Middle District of Florida.

Nix alleges that Brown and his private jet charter brokerage failed to provide a refund.

According to the filing:

‘On November 15, 2024, Mr. Nix and CFG entered into a written agreement whereby in exchange for a payment from Mr. Nix to CFG in the amount of $77,781.40, (Charter Flight Group) agreed to arrange a charter flight from Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport in Lubbock, Texas to Raleigh Durham International Airport in Raleigh Durham, North Carolina that was scheduled to take place on December 12, 2024, and for a return charter flight back to Lubbock on December 15, 2024. Mr. Nix timely paid CFG the Charter Price for the charter flights. Through no fault of Mr. Nix, CFG failed to provide the charter flights.’

The filing continued, “Despite written demand from Mr. Nix, CFG and Brown, with felonious intent, have jointly and severally refused to remit the charter price to Mr. Nix and have diverted the Charter Price for themselves.”

The lawsuit does not provide details of what happened.

Charter Flight Group Lawsuits

In another case, another Jet Genius client is seeking a default judgment against Charter Flight Group.

Frederic Gautier-Winther contracted with Charter Flight Group for a flight from Houston to Turks & Caicos.

The flight was scheduled for December 26, 2024, for nine passengers.

A return flight as part of the charter contract was scheduled for the group of nine on January 2, 2024.

Gautier-Winther alleged he paid Charter Flight Group $88,925 but never received the flights or a refund.

Torricella Law represents Plane Talk Travel, Nix, and Gautier-Winther.

The firm declined to provide additional context about the latest litigation.

The Nix lawsuit can be downloaded at the bottom of this story.

Earlier this year, Capital Jets, Inc., a charter operator, received a default judgment against Jet Genius Holdings and Charter Flight Group.

The judgment of $17,200, dated February 20, 2025, was entered after the defendant failed to respond to the lawsuit.

Jet Genius Partner Sues

Meanwhile, a lawsuit by a former Jet Genius partner continues in California.

It names Brown, Jet Genius Holdings, Inc., Jet Genius Florida Holdings, Inc., Bowman Aviation, Inc., Jet Agency Global, LLC, C3 Jets, LLC, and C3 Limo, LLC.

In a filing yesterday, lawyers for Angel Stanz requested the court find that Brown and his companies had failed to comply with an order issued earlier this month.

The filing stated:

‘Plaintiff is informed and believes, and the pattern of selective non-production strongly suggests, that defendants have open and notoriously continued to exploit plaintiff’s intellectual property and erode its value by mismanaging corporate obligations, credit lines, and assets while channeling benefits through a network of affiliated entities, quasi-partnerships, family members, and family-trust transactions.’

Brown did not respond to a request for comment on the Nix lawsuit or the Plane Talk Travel default judgment.
