Citadel Advisors LLC owns 7.1% of Surf Air Mobility’s outstanding common stock.

Its ownership stake was revealed in a filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.

Citadel Advisors LLC, Citadel Advisors Holdings LP, and Citadel GP LLC apparently acquired the 6,909,862 shares.

Forbes and Bloomberg estimate Citadel Founder and CEO Ken Griffin’s net worth at just under $50 billion.

The company has owned the shares since at least April 21, 2026, according to the filing.

According to Investing, after returning $5 billion in profits to investors, Citadel started 2026 with $67 billion in assets under management.

Various reports show key Citadel investments as of early 2026 included NVIDIA Corporation, Amazon.com Inc., Invesco QQQ Trust, Microsoft Corporation, Meta Platforms Inc., and Tesla Motors Inc.

A report last year by the Globe & Mail reported Citadel had been investing in eVTOL pioneers Archer Aviation and Joby Aviation.

Last year, Joby Aviation acquired Blade’s passenger division.

Both Blade and Surf Air have been seeking to lead the transition to hybrid and electric regional aviation as flight providers.

In March, Surf Air placed a firm order for 25 all-electric Beta Alia CTOL aircraft.

CTOL stands for conventional takeoff and landing, whereas eVTOLs would use facilities similar to those used by helicopters.

Yesterday, Joby and Blade operated a demonstration flight from JFK Airport in Queens County to a Blade heliport in Manhattan.

Reuters reported earlier today that Citadel is backing a government bailout of troubled Spirit Airlines, where it holds senior secured notes.

Surf Air shares closed the day’s trading at $1.06.

Its market cap was $103.8 million.

Surf Air announced this morning it would report first-quarter 2026 financial results on May 11, 2026.
