Fractional private jet operator Flexjet will add around 50 new aircraft to its fleet this year CEO Mike Silvestro told Yahoo Finance.
Flexjet has made an order for G500s and G700s with Gulfstream Aerospace.
During an interview with Yahoo Finance this morning, Flexjet CEO Mike Silvestro said the company recently placed the order for new private jets.
Neither company had formally announced the order.
It follows last year’s $7 billion order by Flexjet with Embraer.
A Flexjet spokesperson had previously teased that a new addition to the fleet was coming, apparently the Gulfstream G500.
The Federal Aviation Administration registry shows Flexjet as the owner of N200FX, a G500 whose certificate was issued in January.
FlightAware shows N200FX has been criss-crossing the country with over 30 legs so far this month.
The G500s would replace the current G450 fleet.
Flexjet has around 30 G450s.
Previously, Flexjet Chairman Kenn Ricci had said the company could build its ultra-long-range G700 fleet from the near-new aircraft market, implying that an order for new Gulfstream aircraft wasn’t a given.
During the Yahoo Business interview, Silvestro said flight activity in the first quarter was up 18% year over year.
Flexjet saw 19.6% year-over-year growth in 2025 compared to 2024.
He noted Flexjet will take delivery of around 50 new private jets this year.
The host then pressed Silvestro about the expansion in a “pretty capacity-constrained plane market.”
There were 854 total deliveries across the industry last year.
Silvestro responded, “We have long-term agreements with the three major suppliers that we utilize, Gulfstream at the high end with our large cabin aircraft, Embraer the mainstay of our fleet in the light mid and super mid aircraft, as well as with Bombardier.”
He then pointed to last year’s order with Embraer before adding, “We did the same thing with Gulfstream just recently for the new G700s and new G500s.”
A Flexjet spokesperson declined to add any additional comments.
