Bombardier said it creates ‘tens of thousands of jobs across the United States’ in response to Trump calling for a ban on its U.S. jet sales.
Canadian private jet maker Bombardier is responding to a call by U.S. President Donald Trump to stop its sales in the U.S.
Eight of the 11 largest U.S. operators by charter and fractional hours use Bombardier aircraft in their fractional or charter fleets.
That includes the five largest operators.
Yesterday, Trump posted on Truth Social, “No more selling Bombardier in the United States!” in all caps.
He continued, “Their products aren’t good enough!”
Trump went on to post, “Over 50% of their revenue comes from the United States — They live off American Buyers, American Companies, American Airports, and American Service — All while Canada blocks our GREAT American Banks, and Companies, throughout the U.S.A.”
Trump concluded his truth:
‘They even blocked Gulfstream Aerospace from doing business in Canada — Completely unjust and unfair! That Era is OVER! If they want our Market, they must build here, and stop treating America like a “piggy bank.” BUY AMERICAN. FLY ON AMERICAN AIRLINERS. ENJOY AMERICAN LIQUOR AND BEVERAGES. SAIL ON LAKE AMERICA. AMERICA FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP’
In a statement posted on its website, Bombardier said it operates sites in Kansas, Texas, Arizona, Florida, Connecticut, Illinois, Delaware, California, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey.
The Canadian company has direct employees in 20 additional states.
The airplane maker claimed:
‘Bombardier aircraft create tens of thousands of U.S. jobs through the company’s growing American footprint as well as within its supply chain made up of approximately 2,800 American companies across 47 states.’
It continued, “The company spends over $2.5 billion with suppliers each year,” adding, “This deeply integrated network and incredible growth stem from the company’s heritage in the business jet industry, dating back to the innovations of Learjet in Wichita, Kansas, and the first business jets to enter service.”
Bombardier noted its aircraft “are built with American-made components such as engines, avionics.”
I added, “Many more key systems provided by great American companies.”
American workers make the wings for its Global 8000 at Bombardier’s facility in Red Oak, Texas.
Bombardier makes flight control components in its Los Angeles, California, facility.
It will inaugurate a new facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Bombardier said it is “a strong contributor to the sector, creating tens of thousands of jobs across the United States.”
It added, “Aerospace is routinely one of the top export sectors for the United States and a continual trade surplus winner. ”
It’s the second time this year Trump has targeted Bombardier.
Trump’s post comes during continued trade tensions between the two countries.
