What is the Cirrus SR22?

The SR22 can be traced back to an older Cirrus piston-powered aircraft, the SR20, which was introduced in the late 1990s. The Klapmeier brothers, the founders of Cirrus, wanted to modernize the general aviation aircraft industry.

Because of this, the company focused on creating a composite aircraft with side-yoke controls and a modernized avionics system. The first SR22 flew in the late 1990s but was certified in November 2000. Customer deliveries of the aircraft begin in early 2001.

Since its introduction, nearly 9,000 total SR22s have been built, making it one of the most influential general aviation aircraft ever produced.

What are the cabin dimensions of the Cirrus SR22?

Since the SR22 is a general aviation aircraft, it typically fits up to five passengers. Even so, modernized variants feature a cabin width of 49 inches and a cabin height of 50 inches. The aircraft also features a baggage volume of 32 cubic feet.

What is the range of a Cirrus SR22?

The most recent Cirrus SR22 variant, the G7+, is powered by the Continental IO-550-N, which provides 310 horsepower. This helps the aircraft achieve a maximum speed of 183 knots and a range of around 1,200 nautical miles.

The turbo version of the SR22, the SR22T G7+, is powered by a Continental TSIO-550-K, which provides 315 horsepower. This helps the aircraft achieve a maximum speed of 213 knots and a range of around 1,400 nautical miles.

How much does a Cirrus SR22 cost?

The Cirrus SR22 G7+ model can be bought new at around $1.25 million. The turbo variant is slightly more, listed at $1.45 million. However, earlier SR22 variants, such as the G1 or the G2, can be found used for as low as $200,000.
