Private Jet fractional and charter flights continue strong June rebound

For the first seven days of June Part 135 flights reached 68% of 2019 levels while fractional flying was at 65%; Airline passengers rebounded to 15% of last year’s totals

The most recent data from Argus and the TSA shows private jet travel’s strong rebound while passenger counts for airline flights remained at just 15% of 2019 levels, although also gaining.

The trend was the friend for the private aviation industry as flights through June 7 followed the positive news from May, including Memorial Day weekend.

Argus data shows Part 135 charter operators were at 68% of 2019 levels for the first seven days of June. That follows a 53% mark last month, 33% at the nadir in April, and 73% in June.

Separately, fractional fleet operators, which included NetJets and Flexjet, saw month-to-date June flying at 65% of last year’s totals. It follows a May rebound to 46% of 2019 levels and 20% in April after 70% in March, the beginning of the Covid-19 downturn.

For the airlines which have dramatically scaled back flights, traffic as counted by the TSA was at 15% of 2019 levels during the first week of June. That’s still better than 10% in May and 5% in April when passenger totals bottomed out at just 5% of last year’s totals.
