Is Aero planning a massive Aspen, Europe expansion?

Start-up Aero, backed by Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, looks to be readying Aspen, Europe expansion

The only private aviation company that can rightfully call itself the Uber of private jets, although it is more a Mercedes, looks to be readying a major expansion.

Aero’s website (below) lists a host of possible new routes that would start in January. New nonstop flights from Austin, Chicago – Midway, Dallas – Love Field, Miami, New York – Westchester County, and San Francisco – Moffet Field could be on tap.

The by-the-seat private jet company shows fares ranging from $1,900 (San Francisco and Dallas) to $3,900 one-way.

However, where it usually allows users to book, website visitors are asked to “express interest.” They are then asked to provide their phone numbers, email, and how many seats they wish to purchase.

It also appears Aero is relaunching in Europe, where it operated flights in 2019 on a similar basis. A report yesterday in Celeb Magazine says Aero will begin Europe flights. Routes will be from London to Geneva, Nice, and Milan starting in December.

Aero’s service features 16 seats in a 1 x 1 configuration on Embraer 135 regional jets. Each seat has 43 inches of pitch. That’s more than the typical narrow-body first class, which ranges from 36 to 38 inches.

It uses FBOs instead of regular passenger terminals, allowing passengers to reduce time spent before departure.

Aero allows customers to change or cancel trips up to 48 hours before departure.

In October, Aero launched Los Angeles – Van Nuys to Las Vegas flights and has added two weekly flights to Los Cabos.

It also has routes from Los Angeles to Jackson Hole, Aspen, and Sun Valley. Earlier it had launched a flight to Napa, which was dropped when starting Las Vegas.
