As Florida charter and fractional private jet flight activity falls, three significant players say they are expanding in the Sunshine State

Global private jet flight activity was down 1% week-to-week with 62,224 segments in Week 17, according to the latest data from WingX.

That puts flying 10% below the same period in 2022.

A stabilizing market?

“Business jet demand has fallen well off last year’s peaks, but at least appears to be stabilizing at around 10% down compared to the Spring of 2022. As growth trends started to taper last summer, we expect to see a narrower deficit in the next few months of 2023, barring further economic shocks, especially in the banking sector,” says Wing X Managing Director Richard Koe.

U.S. flights for the week ending April 30, 2023, were 2% down week-to-week, with 48,226 segments, 11% below last year.

European flights were up 1% week-to-week with 10,484 flights, 11% under 2022’s numbers.

Africa had a 24% week-to-week gain, albeit just 987 segments. Still, it was 34% up on last year for the week.

Looking at the trailing four weeks, Africa was up 9% compared to 2022.

While Asia flights dropped 5% week-to-week to 2,327 flights, activity is still 11% better than last year over the past month.
