King’s responsibilities will be split amongst the Solairus senior leadership team.
Longtime Solairus Aviation President John King is retiring at the end of November.
According to an internal memo, King’s responsibilities are being split between the current executive team.
King “will remain a significant shareholder and partner in Solairus, as well as a member of the Board of Directors,” per the email from CEO Dan Drohan.
Drohan wrote in part:
‘After a remarkable career marked by dedication, innovation, and exemplary leadership, John has decided to step back from his day-to-day duties with the company to embark on his next chapter. Though we knew this day would come, John’s exuberance, intelligence, and steadfast commitment will be missed every day. I am proud and grateful that we have built an organization that is strong enough and well-prepared for his departure. Above all, I am happy for John, as he has given his all to this venture since the day he stepped in the door.’
In a separate email, King recalled, “Back in 2006, when I reconnected with my friend Dan Drohan, my plan was a 90-day consulting project for Sunset Aviation, a predecessor to Solairus. 18 years later, I am on the verge of wrapping that project up.”
Through June, Solairus ranked as the sixth-largest operator by charter/fractional hours.
Flight hours were up 1.3% year-over-year.
