Ireland will be the venue for Flexjet’s third air operator certificate after the U.K. and Malta, as it expands its European footprint.
Flexjet is expanding its European operations via Ireland.
The news was reported yesterday by the Business Post.
Global CEO Andrew Collins confirmed the move.
Collins told Private Jet Card Comparisons, “Flexjet has recently established an AOC in the Republic of Ireland, as we continue our global expansion.”
He continued, “Our Irish operation will include a fleet registered in the country, alongside a Dublin-based operations team.”
Collins says adding the Emerald Isle “provides strategic advantages in our fleet optimization and efficiency for global operations.”
Collins adds, “It follows a lengthy assessment process by the Irish Aviation Authority, which recognized the rigor of our world-class team and our ability to operate at the very highest standards.”
Ireland is already a key destination for Flexjet’s fractional customers.
Collins says Ireland has also become a source for customers.
Since 2020, Flexjet has been growing in Europe.
Flexjet launched its fractional ownership operation in Europe in 2020.
The Irish AOC is in addition to those in the U.K. and Malta.
A Malta operations center was opened in 2021.
In that same year, it acquired U.K.-based helicopter operator Halo.
The rotorcraft division has since been rebranded to Flexjet.
Flexjet has had an AOC in the U.K. since its 2016 acquisition of FlairJet.
An air operator certificate is issued by a country’s government, allowing the recipient to conduct commercial air transportation.
In 2023, Flexjet opened a global training center at Farnborough Airport outside London.
Sirio, its aircraft management arm, also opened a hangar at Milan’s Linate Airport in 2023.
Flexjet’s current fractional fleet in Europe includes the Gulfstream G650 and Embraer Praetor 600.
Last year, Flexjet rebranded its PrivateFly charter brokerage to FXAir.
