After falling to 13th place, Washington D.C. Dulles International Airport was among the five busiest private jet airports again in 2025.
After dropping as far down as 13th place, Dulles International Airport serving Washington D.C. is back among the five busiest airports in the U.S. for private jets.
It is the first time IAD, which ranked fifth this year, has been in the top five since 2018.
From 2020 to 2021, Dulles International Airport fell from 11th to 13th as much of the government operated remotely in the wake of the COVID pandemic.
This year, IAD hopped over 6th-ranked Las Vegas Harry Reid and replaced Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.
VNY plummeted to 9th, according to ARGUS TRAQPak data, following a 12.31% drop in departures.
VNY’s drop can be attributed at least in part to the January 2025 fires that destroyed over 11,000 homes.
Teterboro Airport, in New Jersey, which serves New York City, held the top spot with 75,029 departures.
That was a gain of just a tad more than a quarter point.
Love Field in Dallas moved from third to second with 41,379 departures, up 2.6%.
Westchester County Airport, north of New York City, moved up to third on an 11.9% increase in departures.
Palm Beach International Airport fell from second to fourth on an 18.33% dip.
However, Fort Lauderdale International Airport (ranked 16th, up four places on a 17.6% increase) and Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (ranked 24th, up one place, on a 3.9% increase) both saw gains.

One factor is likely restrictions on PBI when President Donald Trump is flying in or out, or is in residence at Mar-a-Lago.
Those restrictions encouraged private flyers to use nearby airports unaffected by the temporary flight restrictions, known as TFRs.
Overall, 19 of the 25 busiest airports saw gains.
Fort Lauderdale International’s 17.6% increase was the biggest percentage gain on the list.
Westchester County was second with an 11.9% increased, followed by IAD’s 11.4% gain.
After that, tech hubs San Jose KSJC and Austin KAUS posted increases of 6.0% and 4.5%, respectively.
Beyond the declines at PBI and VNY, Atlanta’s Peachtree DeKalb Airport (-8.8%) and Las Vegas LAS (-2.6%) posted the most significant declines.
Florida had the most airports on the list with five.
That included Palm Beach, Miami, Opa Locka, Naples, Fort Lauderdale International, and Fort Lauderdale Executive.
Texas had four airports on the top 25 list.
Dallas Love Field, Houston Hobby, Austin-Bergstrom, and San Antonio were among the top airports.
California had three airports – Van Nuys, Orange County, and San Jose International.
Two Chicago airports – Chicago Executive and Midway made the list.
No other state had more than one airport.
