FlyUSA sets $100 million 'jet card recovery program'

Florida-based FlyUSA is responding to OneFlight International’s announcement that it is “pausing all flight activity for the next 30 days, or until further notice.”

“Qualifying customers receive a complimentary FlyUSA Gold Membership valued at $4,995, pay as they go with no deposit required, and earn a 20% promotional flight rebate until they recover up to 100% of their verified stranded balance,” the press release says.

Gold membership offers dynamic pricing.

FlyUSA has allocated “up to $100 million” in promotional credits.

The promotion does not require prepayment.

Users receive 20% of qualifying FlyUSA flight spend in promotional flight credits until they earn credits worth up to 100% of their verified qualifying stranded balance.

OneFlight could members could have over $150 million in prepaid flights, experts say.

The FlyUSA offer is “subject to program terms and limits.”

CEO Barry Shevlin says, “Someone who has already had a significant amount of money stranded with a private aviation provider shouldn’t have to make another six-figure deposit just to start flying again.”

Shevlin continues, “We’re not asking them to trust another company with a large prepaid balance,” adding, “They can pay as they go, and we’ll earn their trust one flight at a time.”

For every dollar a user spends with FlyUSA, they receive 20 cents in FlyUSA flight credits.

A OneFlight member with a $100,000 unused balance would have to spend $500,000 on charter flights with FlyUSA to earn the same number of credits.

FlyUSA “will confidentially review documentation establishing a customer’s unused or inaccessible balance with another private aviation provider and determine eligibility under the program, including availability of remaining funds under the maximum aggregate limit of $100 million.”
