What is the Gulfstream G IV?

In the early 1980s, Gulfstream collaborated with Grumman to build a new derivative of the Gulfstream III. The first GIV prototype conducted its maiden flight in September 1985 before entering service in 1987.

The GIV family featured several upgrades over the years, including the following aircraft:

  • GIV-SP
  • G400
  • G450
  • G300
  • G350

Production of the GIV family eventually ended in 2018, as Gulfstream replaced the aging aircraft with the new G500 series.

What are the cabin dimensions of the Gulfstream G IV?

The Gulfstream IV features a cabin with a height of 6.2 feet, a width of 7.3 feet, and a length of 45.1 feet. The cabin can be completely customized, featuring either three or four seating zones. This large cabin can fit up to 19 passengers in a high-capacity configuration, although typical configurations seat between 12 and 14 passengers.

What is the range of a Gulfstream G IV?

The Gulfstream IV family is powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay 611 engines, each of which provides nearly 14,000 pounds of thrust. This helps the aircraft achieve a maximum range of 4,220 nautical miles and a maximum speed of Mach 0.88. Later variants, such as the G450, could reach further distances, where the G450 had a maximum range of 4,350 nautical miles.

How much does a Gulfstream G IV cost?

The Gulfstream IV is no longer in production, as it was replaced by the G500 in 2018. However, original GIVs can be found for as low as $2 million, with upgraded models going for upwards of $7 million.
