A data breach at NetJets enabled a hacker to obtain “a limited amount of data for a small number of owners,” according to a spokesperson.

News of the breach was reported earlier today by Bloomberg.

Per Bloomberg, “The attacker successfully phished an employee to steal their work account credentials and used that access to steal more information from NetJet’s systems sometime last month.”

The spokesperson for NetJets tells Private Jet Card Comparisons, “We recently detected and addressed a security incident involving an employee’s account.”

The spokesperson continues, “Upon detection of the incident, our cybersecurity team immediately initiated our response protocols and implemented containment measures.”

Impacted customers have been notified.

The spokesperson adds, “The activity did not affect our operations or our ability to service our customers.”

Per the Bloomberg report, “Employees at NetJets and a subsidiary, Executive Jet Management, had been targets of numerous phishing attempts.”

The report did not state what information the hackers had been able to access.

Customer profiles can have various information, from passport data to credit cards, catering preferences, and pets.

Not Alone

In 2024, Bloomberg also reported that United Airlines had been the target of a data breach by Chinese-backed hackers.

In 2023, American Airlines and Southwest Airlines said their systems were hacked.

Those data breaches enabled hackers to gain information about employees.

British Airways was fined $26 million for a 2018 data breach.

That breach enabled the pirates to obtain credit card information and other data from over 400,000 customers.

A 2021 data breach of Avianis, a software scheduling provider for private jet operators then owned by Wheels Up, enabled hackers to potentially obtain customer and employee information from Jet Aviation and Solairus Aviation.
